Duncan studied at Leeds University Dental School from 1977 graduating B.Ch.D in 1981.
He practised dentisty in Leeds and Bury before coming to Heywood in 1990. Duncan’s dental nurse Alfreda Birch has worked with him since 1991.
Duncan speaks French and Spanish which helps his passion for dancing Salsa and Latin music, this help keep him fit and mentally sharp. He has also played chess for the Heywood Club team and does charity work with Round Table.
In keeping with modern philosophy his approach to dentisty centres around getting patients to prevent dental disease. When he cajoles you to stop smoking, improve your diet and brush and floss there is a good reason! When bacterial plaque is controlled, so is dental disease. You can do more good twice a day with a toothbrush then a dentist can do twice a year!!
We have wonderful materials for restoring teeth, but the roots need to be in healthy gums.
